Peer Review and Editing Process

  • Submissions will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis. Authors will receive a notification from the journal editorial board upon receipt of the manuscript.
  • When a manuscript is submitted, a section editor will be assigned to review the manuscript for quality and adherence to the journal guidelines.  It will then be forwarded to the appropriate peer reviewer to suggest a designation of “Reject”, “Accept with major revisions”, “Accept with minor revisions” or, “Accept”.
  • The manuscript will then be returned to the section editor who will then deliver a decision to the author, and if applicable, any suggested revisions.
  • Communication of decisions regarding the status of submissions may take 4 weeks or more depending on article type, submission volume, reviewer availability, etc. All decisions made by the PNWMSRJ Editorial Board are final.
  • If a manuscript is not accepted, the author will then have the opportunity to revise and resubmit if appropriate.
  • Upon acceptance of a manuscript, a final copy edit and proofing process will take place before being published on the website. This process may take up to 3 weeks.
  • At regular intervals, all accepted manuscripts individually published on the “Latest Articles” page will be compiled into a Journal Issue PDF document and published under the “Published Issues” tab of the PNWMSRJ website.
